Officer Macy maneuvered around a stopped street car with his siren activated at the intersection of King Street and Richard Street.
Officer Macy was unaware that a fire truck was entering the same intersection responding to the same fire call and could not hear the officer's siren above its own.
Unaware of each others' course, the vehicles collided in the intersection.
Officer Macy was killed in the collision.
